Australian Gifted Support Centre now offers online tutoring for school aged children and adults who need support in:

Literacy: – Especially for students and adults who are struggling or disengaged with Literacy. We have had huge success helping dyslexic learners as well as those who struggle with spelling and comprehension.

Mathematics: – Supporting those who lack confidence in Mathematics, have gaps in their learning or want to stretch their abilities. Tutoring available for younger mathematicians through to upper secondary ATAR subjects.

High School Chemistry and Physics tutoring to help you understand topics and prepare for ATAR exams.


ABOUT OUR TUTORS

Marie Fernandez is a qualified mathematics specialist teacher based in Western Australia. Marie has over 10 years experience tutoring children from primary school age up to and including ATAR mathematics students. Marie also has a Certificate in Gifted Education and has a particular interest in children with extra needs. She enjoys helping her students gain confidence in their abilities and supporting them in developing study skills and using their individual strengths to support their areas of weaknesses.

Marie’s son Abraham, a gifted student who has excelled in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and is currently studying Engineering. He  is also available to tutor students in years 11 and 12 in those subject areas. Abraham has been tutoring high school students for over 5 years.

Lyndal Reid has been working with the gifted/2e community for over 13 years and has experience working with special needs students for the last 27 years. While at University in 2011, she was one of very few who were chosen to train in a new literacy program specially designed for disengaged children and adults. This was taken out to schools as well as a youth justice centre, where the literacy rate soon improved dramatically. Lyndal enjoys watching her students gain a love for literacy by supporting their individual needs.

All tutors have current working with children checks.

At this stage all tutoring will be online.

Payable in advance by bank transfer. Credit Card facilities available with 2.7% processing fee.

If a block of sessions is purchased and you wish to discontinue before completing them the refund will represent the balance between what you paid and the number of sessions attended at the single session rate.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Tutoring can be beneficial for many children and the progress they make will vary depending on many things. In order to give the best outcomes for the child the following is important.

  • Regular sessions in a quiet space without distractions. No sessions will be conducted with the child in a bedroom unless a parent is present at all times.
  • Being online and prepared at the scheduled time.
  • Supervision by an adult during the online session as appropriate.
  • Support by an adult for work that is set to be done between sessions.
  • Understanding that learning is a process and takes time, improvement rarely happens overnight.
  • Learning and Improvement requires effort and practice.

Scheduled sessions

  • Appointments are made directly with the tutor.
  • Payment to be made online the day before the session time.
  • The payment covers the scheduled time, if the child is late starting the finishing time remains the same.
  • Sessions cut short by the student or family are still charged at the agreed session rate.

Cancellation Policy

Sessions cancelled within 24 hours of starting time need to be paid for in full, unless there are medical or extenuating circumstances, in which case a replacement session will be booked at a mutually suitable time.

Termination of tutoring arrangements

Parents and tutors have the right to terminate the arrangement after the completion of any session if they feel the relationship/tutoring is not working for the child or the goals of the tutoring are not beening achieved.
